CBS19 Healthwise – Local Woman Drops 100 Lbs. After Successful Weight Loss Surgery

When dieting and exercise don’t seem to be enough, some people decided to turn to bariatric, or weight loss surgery, as a final option.

It’s not a solution that will work for everyone, and does come with work too, but for some, the procedure can truly change lives.

In this week’s CBS19 Healthwise segment, we introduce you to one patient who has successfully lost 100 pounds since her surgery, and feels better than ever.

CBS19 Healthwise – Joint Replacement Discharge Brunch Sends Patients on Their Way to Recovery

Joint replacement surgery, whether for a knee, hip or shoulder, isn’t an uncommon procedure.  At Martha Jefferson, a new brunch is bringing these patients together and allowing them to share stories, ask questions and receive information that will be helpful to them once they are at home starting to recovery.

CBS19 Healthwise – Free Art Tours Now Offered at Martha Jefferson

Martha Jefferson is opening its new hospital up to the community and hopes to share more about how art plays a part in the healing process.  Whether a patient in the hospital, a visitor, or just interested in art, you are now invited to take a free tour of the collection at Martha Jefferson.  Tours are offered in April on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.

WINA Live Well – Tackling Allergy Season in Central Virginia

It’s allergy season in Central Virginia.  Whether your have itching eyes, a runny nose, or are congested from all the pollen, many are suffering from an allergy season that arrived early.

This morning, Dr. Arvind Madaan of Charlottesville Allergy and Respiratory Enterprises talked with Rick and Jane about how to cope with the pollen, and possible treatments for those who can’t shake the symptoms.
