Named for Thomas Jefferson's daughter, Martha Jefferson Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1903. Our current 176-bed hospital is a Magnet Accredited and nationally recognized for providing customer service focused on quality care.

In accordance with our mission statement, Martha Jefferson is committed to establishing a safe and healthy working environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, volunteers and employees, and improving the health status of the community. These objectives are accomplished by complying with current legislation, Joint Commission recommendations, Life Safety Code and other state and local ordinances. Consequently, it is the policy of Martha Jefferson Hospital to prohibit smoking and use of tobacco products by patients, visitors, medical staff, volunteers and employees on all campuses owned by the hospital. To further our mission of building a healthier community, effective, October 1, 2010, Martha Jefferson will no longer hire individuals who use tobacco or nicotine products of any form.
All individuals who are offered a position with Martha Jefferson Hospital are screened for illegal drug, alcohol and tobacco/nicotine use, as part of the post offer health screening. Individuals whose post-offer health screening results are verified positive will have their job offer rescinded and be eligible to re-apply in six months.
